There’s a lot of hype behind the anime series Demon Slayer, but is it really worth watching? You bet your rice balls it is!
We’re in the second month of summer and my 10-year-old daughter and I were looking for some anime to binge watch together. I came across Demon Slayer and knew I found our next obsession! Before watching with any kids under 13, be sure to check out a few episodes yourself. There is no sexual content but fight scenes do have gore.

Demon Slayer is about a kind boy, named Tanjiro, who lives a simple life with his family. His life is turned upside down after his family is slaughtered by a demon, leaving his little sister Nezuko the only survivor. Although Nezuko survives, she herself has been turned into a demon. Tanjiro sets out on a quest to eliminate the demon who slaughtered his family and to find a way to turn Nezuko back into a human. Along the way, he meets some interesting characters and is forced to grow and evolve.

With suspenseful fights, an amazing story that tugs at your heart strings, and characters that provide a comedic relief, you will not be able to stop watching this series. Make sure you have a box of tissues handy. Some episodes had us tearing up.
Season 1 is out on Netflix, Hulu, and Funimation. After watching season 1, be sure to check out the movie “Demon Slayer Mugen Train.” The easiest place I found to watch the movie was on Funimation.com. You do have to have a subscription, (unless you do a free trial), but everywhere else is pay to watch.
Keep on the lookout for season 2, releasing later this year in 2021. Make sure you watch the movie before watching the next season, as it will be picking up where the movie left off.
So… are you part of the Demon Slayer hype train?
